Lucy Chen

Founder

I am a first-generation immigrant from China.  I studied at University of California, Los Angeles where I received my MS in Environmental Engineering in 1996. After spending 20 years in the finance industry, during which I became a senior leader, I found myself reflecting on the challenges I overcame as a new American and a woman, and decided to become a career and life coach.

I have a passion for helping women and immigrants to pursue happiness in life and success in career.  Since 2000, I have mentored and coached over 100 people across the professional fields of engineering, data analysis, risk management, and finance.

I offer sessions in both English and Mandarin Chinese—whichever the client prefers. As a Distinguished Toastmaster, I have won speech contests at the area and division levels and love to help immigrants improve their communication and leadership skills. I am a motivational speaker.

In 2023, I published my first English book, Build Resilience: Live, Learn, and Lead.

Being a mother of 3 children, I understand the inherent challenges of balancing one’s career and family life and am ready to help others overcome them. I am also an active yogi and taekwondo martial artist, so I can prove it is possible to raise a family and still lead a healthy lifestyle through exercise, meditation, and a balanced diet.

In addition to my work as a coach and finance leader, I am a member of Chief, a private network focused on connecting and supporting women executive leaders. Also, I am a member of the advisory board of Catalyst Youth Network, a nonprofit that uplifts underserved youths in Oakland. I chair the Albany API Parent Engagement Group's Stop Asian Hate Committee and have led the Cornell Elementary School PTA for two years as its President. In the past, I also worked as Club President, Area Governor, and Division Governor for District 4 of Toastmasters International.

As a Christian, I believe that life is a gift.
