"Build Resilience”: A Journey Through Generations and Continents by Lucy Chen is now available.

SAN FRANCISCO, April 20, 2024 — Author and coach Lucy Chen is honored to announce that her first book, “Build Resilience: Live, Learn, and Lead” has received its third book award in the PenCraft 2024 Seasonal Best Book Award Spring Competition for the Best Book for Nonfiction Self Help.

2024 marked the second year of PenCraft’s Seasonal Book Awards. Chen’s book was one among 64 books that were recognized for their excellence in creative writing from adult and children’s fiction to nonfiction that met and surpassed the contest’s selection criteria. PenCraft praised “Build Resilience” with the following: “Build Resilience exemplified these criteria as a winner in the Non Fiction - Self Help genre.”

On receiving her third literary award for her book, Chen said: “The journey to this achievement was filled with challenges, from balancing a full-time job, caring for my ill mother, helping my daughter, and managing numerous volunteering commitments. Writing my book seemed like a big mountain to climb at times, an impossible task.But I didn't let these challenges deter me.”

The PenCraft Seasonal Awards were originally established to recognize the standout work in creative writing from authors, publishers, illustrators, and editors from across the world. An annual literary award content, the PenCraft Book Awards welcomes “entries from independently (indie) published books, including those from small presses, e-book publishers, self-published authors or from traditional publishers.” The event aims to help promote new authors and books to readers across the globe.

“Build Resilience” was released on November 2, 2023. Offering a captivating narrative spanning three generations, two countries, and over eight decades, "Build Resilience" shares the author's remarkable experiences interwoven with down-to-earth principles for conquering life's obstacles. At the heart of this inspiring journey are seven down-to-earth principles that serve as the foundation of resilience. These principles are not just abstract concepts; they are practical tools, forged in the crucible of real-life experiences. "Build Resilience" is a compass for navigating life's ups and downs, providing valuable insights and lessons to help individuals tackle challenges effectively.

About the Author:

Lucy grew up in China and arrived in the US in 1994 for graduate school. After receiving an MS in Environmental Engineering from UCLA in 1996, she delved into engineering and quantitative analysis in the consulting, healthcare, and finance sectors and became a financial risk executive. Lucy is a certified Human Potential Coach and Psychological Fitness Specialist who founded GiftedCoaching.Info, bringing two decades of mentoring and coaching experience. A Distinguished Toastmaster, she excels in public speaking, career development, well-being, and financial coaching.
